Rhodiola- ‘Adapt or Perish’

Rhodiola (Rhodiola rosea), sometimes called Arctic root or golden root, grows at high altitudes in the arctic areas of Europe and Asia, and has been used as traditional medicine in Russia and the Scandinavian countries for centuries. It was popular with the Vikings for enhancing mental and physical endurance and was included in the first Swedish Pharmacopeia in 1775. Several clinical trials show that repeated administration of rhodiola extract SHR-5 exerts an anti-fatigue effect that increases mental performance in healthy individuals and reduces burnout in patients with chronic fatigue. There are several preliminary but highly promising studies evaluating the effectiveness of rhodiola for depression.
